As of 2019, Google gets about 80% of all global internet traffic. In order to be visible when someone types keyword phrases related to a business into Google, we have to optimize a website for Google’s “Hummingbird.” Hummingbird is an artificial intelligence (AI) program (or “algorithm”) that scans, indexes and recommends websites to people who type keyword phrases into the search bar. Google uses over 250 individual metrics to determine page rank in these searches. We have a lot of real-world experience and success working within the boundaries of the four major algorithmic subprograms that determine how and where websites rank in relation to consumer searches:

  1. Panda – How Google gauges the structural integrity of each site page
  2. Pigeon – How Google recommends website pages in local searches
  3. Penguin – How Google rates the value of incoming, or “backlinks”
  4. RankBrain – How Google determines if content meets consumers’ needs
